Return Again To Obe of My Fav's KBBQ. Order Galbi Lunch Doshirak & Galbi Nengmyun Lunch. Sooooo Goooood !!!!!
We ordered Set A and it came with a couple of meats. My visiting family said it was some of the best kbbq they've had and I think it was great also! The staff was super helpful and cooked all the meat to perfection. They also have very interesting banchan and I loveeeedddd their fish cakes!
Soowon has made it into our KBBQ rotation with Park's BBQ, Quarters, Seoul Garden and Origin. All those options are solid for delicious Korean BBQ. They have valet, which is super convenient as finding parking elsewhere in the area would be difficult. Their quality of meats, banchan (side dishes), soups and "appetizers" are all great. So much so that my mom had no complaints when we brought her here. =) It's a win win! The marinade on the LA galbi is really good here. We also like the steamed egg, cold buckwheat noodles (neng myun), and seafood pancake as additional sides. They do not have the rice wraps here but they have a nice selection of perilla leaves and lettuce. Staff is friendly and attentive. Sometimes they do get sidetracked and forget items, but you can tell it's because they're so busy. There's large tables for bigger parties which is nice.
Soowon Galbi KBBQ lives up to the hype! If you value higher quality meats over AYCE, this is definitely the place for you. I got the Combo C, which is all beef and includes marinated short ribs, boneless short ribs, ribeye steak, boneless short ribs in sesame oil, and brisket. The meats paired with the banchan were literal perfection. From bean sprouts to kimchi to pickled daikon, you can't go wrong with their side dishes. Service was outstanding. The servers were impeccable with their timing, and they grilled the meats to the perfect temperature for me, which was an added bonus. The ambiance was great. The place was well ventilated and I appreciate that I didn't leave reeking of grilled meats. Note: I came for lunch and parked with on-site valet, which was super easy. Just remember to bring some cash to pay the valet. 100% recommend and will be dreaming about this place until my next visit!
Simply, THE BEST. We had such an amazing meal here! The place was clean and the quality of the food was much better than all these other mediocre places in Koreatown. You definitely need to order a combo with some soowon galbi (duh, it's their namesake!). In fact, get an extra order of it because it's THAT good. But all of their other cuts of meat were also delicious too! They also have a really good selection of banchan (side dishes) which is included for free and definitely an added bonus. The servers were attentive as they helped cook our meats and promptly brought us everything we asked for. We could not have asked for a better experience. We will definitely be back to eat here again... and again... and again!
I've eaten at other Korean BBQ places with other Koreans, but this was the best quality of meat and variety of banchan I've ever had in Los Angeles. My friend who invited me to join her for lunch, has been a regular here for years, so we were greeted warmly and by name as we entered. She is from Korea, so she placed our order in Korean and asked for an extra portion of rib to the marinated Galbi. This worked out perfectly for us since 2 orders would have been too much food and one order would not have been enough. You may of course also order 2 orders and just take home the leftovers... Yes the prices are a bit high but as I said the quality of the beef makes it worth the price. They write in the latest price but when we went last month it was about $62. All the 10 banchan are refilled constantly and a refreshing bowl of salad was also replenished several times. My favorites were the kim Che, bean sprouts, asparagus, and pickled radish, but I even liked the omelet, and green beans. Her favorite was the broccoli, which they refilled 4 times! They cook everything for you and they cut it up to stay warm on the edge of the grill. They grilled the bones last so that we could enjoy the chewy cartilage too. At the end of the meal we also got bowls of broth with crispy rice at the end to help us digest our 2 hour meal before we left. They have a small parking lot with valet, and if you don't mind a bit of a walk, there is street and metered parking nearby.
Came here on a lazy Sunday to no wait and plentiful parking (valet for $4). We opted for the Combo B ($160) and added on a small cold noodle ($9). There's not much of an ambiance at Soowon Galbi - It's a very standard KBBQ joint. Server was attentive and checked in on us often. He cooked the meat and walked off, so we never knew when it was ready to eat lol. I also noticed that some meats were a bit overcooked. Again, probably just us not knowing that server was done cooking minutes ago. Regardless, the different cuts of beef were all pretty good. No complaints on the quality. Banchans were really tasty - I appreciated the different varieties and had a blast trying them. I think the cold noodles might be better than Yuchun since the flavor was on point. Soowon Galbi is pricey, but definitely worth trying! We had so much food left for the next day and it still tasted delicious after heating up.
Went there again. The salwoon galbi beef is really incredible! I feel the portion is a bit small for $63. But I would definitely get it again. The banchan is incredible too. What was disappointing which i wouldn't order again is japchae. Tasteless and really not great. The cold noodles without me red sauce taste not good. If you order it, make sure to get it with the red sweet hot sauce. The noodles were nice and firm. It was a 7/10 dish. Wouldn't necessarily order again and rather try something new.
It's January and I already made my way back to Soowon. Came for lunch on a Saturday and luckily, there was no wait. The meat quality of great and the banchan is spot on! This place is my go to for kbbq! Valet for lunch and dinner.
Sooooooo good We were in LA and found this spot and I'm so happy we did. The food was delicious! It was just me and my husband so we only ordered galbi, pork belly, soybean stew, steamed egg. I have to say their soybean soup was the best , I like mine specifically like this , it was thick and creamy. All the banchan was really good, meat quality was good and it was more than enough for us, we could barely finish the pork belly. It was maybe a 30 minute wait with a long line after and when we finished eating the line just kept going, that's how you know this place is really good, and worth the wait. The place is a mid size restaurant, lots of space for everything on the table so you don't feel crammed. I'll be back for just that soybean soup!
